West Craven Turbines beat Hyndburn Colts to move into the semi-final of the Hyndburn District League Plate Cup.
The game started slowly, but Marshall, Capps and Ireton scored well as the first quarter ended 21-20, with Turbines trailing by a point.
The second quarter saw Turbines up the tempo, with Gonzalez checking in and dominating in the paint, along with Marshall’s continued excellent shooting form from outside the perimeter and inside the key.
Fast break scores came from Capps and Smith to add to the score sheet and also Widdup scoring his first basket back with a jump shot. The score ended on a high with Marshall hitting a three on the buzzer to take the Turbines 12 points ahead of the Colts at half-time, 44-32.
The third quarter saw Turbines push for an extended lead with them scoring 10 points before the opposition could get back into the game. Scores came from Marshall and Gonzalez on set offences where Capps and Robinson were keen to get on the fast break to get the easy lay ups.
Another strong quarter saw Turbines extend the lead to 22 at 61-39.
The Colts won the last quarter by one point as Crockford found three point shooting form late on for the Turbines as a consolation, with the final score 77-56.
