COLNE Legion won the Worth Valley Bowling League’s Thornton Shield with a resounding 75-29 victory over Gargrave at Lund Park in Keighley.

The locals gave four points away, but all three pairs won their 25-up games - Walter Allan and Ken Wilson (25-7), Billy McClennan and Matt Harrison (25-2), and Tony Bracewell and Colin Burrow (25-16).

In their first season in the league, Colne also finished second behind Settle in the Veterans’ Second Division, finishing level on points, with both teams promoted to the top flight.
