Cotterill break inspires victory
IN the Nelson and District Semi-Snooker League First Division, Wayne Cotterill had a break of 51 for St Andrew’s, who remain at the top after a 3-2 away win over Briercliffe.
The deciding frame went to Paul Averill, who edged out Mick Harrison for the win.
Lamb A lies in joint second place with a 3-2 away win over Worsthorne, while James Waddington had a run of 55 for Lamb B, but lost out to Dressers’ Jason Lee who cleared up the colours for a narrow frame win.
The match ended 3-2 in Lamb’s favour to keep them in joint second place also.
Both Poultry teams pulled out 3-2 wins, with the A side at home to Paradise A, and the B side away to Alexandra, where John Lanceley had a run of 31 for the Snooker Hall, and Chris Mount had a run of 35 for the visitors.
Elsewhere, Old Band gained a 3-2 home win over Liberal A.
In the Second Division, Paradise B clings on to top spot despite a 3-2 loss at home to David Street, as do White Lea Head, who lost out 3-2 away to Byerden House.
Glyn Skelton had a run of 35 for second placed Carters A in their 3-2 away win over Nelson Golf Club, whilst Old Band B also share second place after scoring a 4-1 away win over Liberal C, for whom Chris White was their only winner.
St Andrew’s B are just two points behind the leaders after a 4-1 home win over Shorthomers B, while Dressers D saw off a visiting Molly Rigby’s outfit with a 3-2 win.
In the Third Division, Burnley Miners maintain their four-point lead at the top with a 3-2 away win over Lamb D, and are followed in second place by Old Band C, who managed a 3-2 away win over Shorthomers D.
Shorthomers C came away from Foulridge Social Club with a 3-2 win to keep them in third place, while Dressers B move into fourth spot after a 4-1 away win over David Street B.
Carters D saw off Nelson Poultry D with a 3-2 home win, and Lamb C recorded a rare 3-2 win away to Dressers C
