Nelson and District Semi-Snooker League results

ST Andrews stay in pole position in the Nelson and District Semi-Snooker League First Division after a 4-1 away win over Alexandra.

Up at the Gravel, Lamb B started well and went into a 3-0 lead with breaks of 42 from John Cant, 43 from Sam Shepherd and two runs of 35 from James Waddington; Jonathan Kershaw had a run of 26 but was narrowly beaten on the black by Chris Jordan, and John Wright took the final frame from Barry McQueston to end the match Lamb B 3, Poultry A 2.

Chris Henry had a break of 41 for Poultry B who went through the card away to Lamb A to put them in second place, and Shaun Harrison put in a run of 38 for Paradise A, who gained a 3-2 home win over Carters A.

Old Band B also share second place after a 3-2 away win over Worsthorne, and Burnley Miners came good with a 4-1 home win over Liberal A.

In the Second Division, up at Cock Hill there were breaks of 43 from Derek Hart, 43 from Chris Lawson and a 38 from Graham Johnson as White Lea Head gained a 5-0 whitewash over Shorthomers B, and now hold a six-point lead at the top.

Molly Rigby’s B was in form and find themselves in second place after a 4-1 home win over David Street A, while Colne Dressers move up to third place with a 3-2 home win over Nelson Golf Club.

Byerden B got the better of close neighbours Paradise B with a 4-1 home win, and over at Abinger Street, St Andrews B pulled off a 3-2 home win over Tacklers A, for whom Jimmy Turner had a 27 clearance, whilst Daniel Meeks won the deciding frame from Chalkie White as Dressers D came away from Liberal B with a 3-2 win.

In the Third Division, Poultry D hangs on to first place but lost their first match to date as they suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Shorthomers C.

Shorthomers D however moved into second place after a 4-1 away win over David Street B, for whom Joe Hardacre was the only winner with a clearance of 34.

Andy Goody had a break of 59 and Jason Bradley a run of 54 for Molly Rigby’s who ended up 4-1 home winners over Lamb D, with Tim Goode being their only winner with a break of 35.

Elsewhere, Tacklers C came away from Dressers B with a 4-1 win while up at Exchange Street Tacklers B secured a 3-2 win over Dressers C and Foulridge Social Club came away from Lamb C with a 3-2 win.
