St Andrew’s stay on top with victory

TERRY Windle was the only loser for St Andrew’s who stay at the top of Division One after a 4-1 home win over Old Band A.

Jamie Sheils put in a run of 52 for Lamb A who secured a 4-1 home win over Alexandra to keep them in joint second place; Keith Ormerod was Alex’s only winner as he out pointed Phil Smith. Shaun Greenall had a break of 43 for Lamb B who also had a 4-1 win away at the Paradise Club and share second place.

Elsewhere Larry Shaw was on form for Brierfield Liberal and knocked in a break of 53 to extend their 3-1 lead into a 4-1 victory over Nelson Poultry A. Worsthorne are just eight points off the leaders now after finding some form at last and gaining a 4-1 away win over Dressers E while Poultry B took a 3-1 lead over Briercliffe up at the Gravel, however Mick Kruprinski took the final frame from Peter hunt with a run of 43.

In Division Two, Chris Lawson had a run of 35 for White Lea Head who moved into top spot after a 4-1 home win over St Andrew’s B for whom Mathew Elliss was their only winner.

Carters A jumped into second place with a 4-1 home win over Byerden House and are joined by Old Band B who secured a 4-1 home win over Nelson Golf Club, while Molly Rigby’s moved up the table after gaining a valuable 4-1 home win over Paradise B.

Dressers D came away from Shorthomers with a 3-2 win while Barry Yates had a run of 28 for Liberal C away at David St where the deciding frame went to David Hitchcox over David Hughes for a 3-2 win for the home side.

In Division Three, Burnley Miners extended their lead at the top to six points after a 4-1 home win over Molly Rigby’s A while Old Band C remained in second place despite a 3-2 loss at home to David St for whom veteran Ray Hudson took the deciding frame for the Holgate St side.

Elsewhere Shorthomers D turned over their C side at the Pigeon club with a 4-1 win with Nick Shaw putting in a run of 28 and down at New Brown St, Dressers B came unstuck as they fell victim to an in form Lamb D outfit that went away with a valuable 4-1 win. Foulridge are back on track and left Lamb C with a 4-1 win, while up at the Gravel Poultry D finally managed a 3-2 home win over Dressers C after a mammoth struggle.
