Earby’s relegation to Section B of the Ribblesdale League was sealed over the weekend.

The Applegarth side lost both games, going down by 39 runs to Great Harwood on Saturday, before suffering the ignominy of being dismissed for 17 by champions and league leaders Clitheroe on Sunday.

That has left the locals 35 points adrift of seventh place in Section A, which brings with it a play-off with second place in Section B – with two games to play.

Harwood posted 203-9, before dismissing Earby for 164.

Then on Sunday, Clitheroe beat Earby by 129 runs after dismissing their opponents for 17 in 12.4 overs!

Joshua Marquet took 4-3 off three overs, and Janaka Guneratne 4-6 off six.

Top-scorer was Jake Greenbank with five, spending longest at the crease with 10 deliveries.

Earlier Clitheroe had totalled 146-8, with Chris Walton taking 5-36. Jack Dewhurst made 62.

Barnoldswick, meanwhile, lost one and won one.

On Saturday, Barlick made 18-8 against Padiham, but were beaten by three wickets as Ben Heap hit 76 not out.

Kyle Marshall took 5-72.

The following day, Barnoldswick bowled Brooksbottom out for 203, as Sajid Akhtar took 7-43, with Peter Betros making 71 for Brox.

Abdul Saddique then hit 83 in reply as Barnoldswick won by three wickets.

His innings took him past the magical 1,000 mark in league runs. Saddique now stands on 1,066.
