Another win for blossoming All Blacks
COLNE and Nelson’s senior Colts picked up another win against Bury on Sunday.
Colne got off to a quick start against a much bigger Bury outfit, making the All Blacks work hard for every yard, with Colne were quick to realise they had the upper hand within the forwards, as they were the quicker and stronger.
But Bury weren’t going to roll over so easily, using their big centres at every opportunity.
A perfect lineout allowed the All Blacks to form a maul and march Bury over the line, where Jake Hargreaves scored his second try of the season, which was unconverted.
Colne now in a dominant position but were unable to capitalise on two other try scoring opportunities, leaving the score 5-0 at half-time.
The second half saw bury step up to the plate and force Colne backwards, where they scored an early try in the corner.
The All Blacks bounced straight back in to action, with Ryan “Pitbull” Sumner firing down the middle, where he was unfortunately stopped before the line. A brilliant off load saw Liam O’Connor waltz over the line making the score 12-5 after being converted.
The home side, still moving forward, placed Bury under pressure, where they gave away a penalty right under the post which was converted to make the score 15-5.
A second wind from the away side left Colne defending their try line, but fortunately lost possession due to a knock on, leading to a scrum.
The last few minutes of the game saw Rob Blackburn making a dash for the try line, which was enjoyed by everyone especially Colne full back George Wade, even though he was stopped after his display of fancy foot work, thus bringing the game to an end at 15-5.
