Former England international footballer Steve Hodge is the guest speaker at Colne Cricket Club’s Sportsman’s Dinner on Friday, March 27th.

“The Man With Maradona’s Shirt”, as his 2010 autobiography is titled, Hodge swapped shirts with the Argentine genius after the England’s 2-1 quarter-final defeat at Mexico 86.

It was his sliced clearance from Diego Maradona’s pass which led to the Hand of God goal, before his subsequent brilliant second.

Hodge earned 24 caps for his country between 1986 and 1991.

Now 52, Hodge counts Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Spurs , Leeds and QPR among his former clubs and will be joined on the night by comedian Gary Marshall.

The evening will conclude with an auction of Sports Memorabilia and other items.

The event will also comprise a three-course meal.

Tickets are on sale now from Gary Hunt, Matt Walker or from the clubhouse, priced at £30 or tables of 10 for £300.

Anybody who would like any further information should contact Hunt on 07737102139, Walker on 07738621958 or e-mail playersofcolnecc@gmail.com
