A 59-year-old Brazilian man stunned his family and friends by turning up at his own funeral, it has been reported.
Relatives of bricklayer Ademir Jorge Goncalves had identified him as the victim of a car crash the previous day, although they had had difficulties as the corpse was badly disfugured.

However, it emerged Mr Goncalves had spent the night drinking with friends and did not hear about his funeral until it was already happening on Monday morning.

A relative said some family members - including herself and the man's mother - had doubts, but an aunt and four friends positively identified the body.

The body was correctly identified later and buried in another state.
