Young children love cute characters and Flora (4) fell in love with Walter the Troll when she spotted him on the cover of new release Walter Under the Bridge.

And the story ain’t half bad either! Written by author Dion Child and illustrated by Graeme Bowen, this book tells the story of Walter who made his home under the arches of Whitney Bridge more than 200 years ago.

Along the way he has many adventures with his new found friends who live on the riverside, along with Chester, the American cocker spaniel.

The book is based on Whitney Bridge, an 18 century toll bridge in Hertfordshire, which has been cared for since 2012 by Maggie Taylor and her husband Grahame Penny .

Maggie had the idea for the book and it’s a lovely one to curl up with your children and send them off to the land of nod, so you can have a sneaky read too!
