A keen reader from Colne has struck gold after completing the Lancashire Reading Trail.

Seven-year-old Max Burke, of Laithe Street, has read and reviewed 50 books making him a champion of the Lancashire Reading Trail. In completing it, he has also secured a gold certificate.

Max, who is pictured with Colne Library’s frontline assistant Darran Ward, took just over a year to complete the trail.

Max said he had relished the challenge and the best bits about the trail were reviewing the stories. He said he was proud of his achievement and his favourite books are Dennis the Menace, Horrid Henry and those by Roald Dahl.

Away from reading, Max enjoys going to Beavers, writing stories and building with Lego.
