LEGENDARY Granada TV presenter Paul Crone came to Boundary Mill Stores, Colne, to pick out raffle ticket winners for the area’s air ambulance.
Because the key Pendle store is playing a major part in raising funds for the North West Air Ambulance this year, its fund-raising organisers decided to invite Boundary Mill to host the Grand Christmas Raffle draw.
The tickets are £1 each and they have sold £125,000 worth. Boundary Mill had sold 1,700 of them.
The draw took the form of a “Grab a Grand” type system. The tickets were blown round in a machine and Paul bravely snook in and grabbed the winners.
The top prize of £5,000 went to Mrs H. Jones in Fleetwood. The second prizes were two iPad 2s and there were 10 Marks and Spencer vouchers.
Paul rang Mrs Jones in Fleetwood to let her know her success.
Alison Whittaker-Stewart, regional fund-raiser for NWAA, said: “It went really well. We had quite a crowd around. It helps raise interest in it.”
There is a weekly lottery for the air ambulance, and you can join that by visiting the website - www.nwaa.net - or ring 0151 547 7830.
