A big team from Pendle’s Helen Green Academy of Dance attended the Castle Cup Festival in Blackpool.
It was a two-day event and attended by 18 dance schools from across England and Ireland.
They brought home a staggering 101 trophies – a record for their dance school in the 21 years they have been competing!
Academy boss Helen said: “They held a special competition to find the overall best dancer in each category and Georgina Brown (15), from Trawden, and Chloe Craig (14), from Colne, were presented with the coveted Castle Cup.
“Harrison Green and Emre Giray were also selected as overall finalists. Georgina Brown had a fantastic weekend achieving first place in freestyle solo, slow solo and streetdance solo, and also first places for freestyle pairs and rock’n’roll with her partner Jade Jones.
“Georgina also went on to win the best intermediate section dancer of the weekend, bringing her trophy total to eight!
“Other outstanding performances came from Krista Hyatt, who achieved first places in freestyle solo and slow solo and also in rock’n’roll and freestyle pairs with her partner Millie Conlan.”
And she said: “We had a great winning streak in the rock’n’roll sections, scooping the winners cups in four of the six age groups. The under-10 beginner section was the biggest section of the day with over 40 entries – the pupils had to dance through six heats to make the final. We had four girls all made the final 6!
“There was weeks of hard work leading up to the event so I was really pleased with the results – the children’s commitment really paid off!”
