A SPECIAL event is being hosted in Downham Village Hall next month to mark the 50th anniversary of the release of the iconic film “Whistle Down The Wind”.

On Sunday, August 7th, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. everyone is invited to mark the landmark anniversary of the filming of the screen hit at locations across the Ribble Valley and the debut acting performances of many local children.

Film memorabilia will be on display at the free event and there is an open invitation for all who share a love of the film - or played a part in its production - to meet up at Downham.

Further information is available from event organisers Diane Poole, who played Nan Bostoc, on 07904 111167; Lois Brunning; or Pam Dyson on 01282 773217.

Organisers said any donations received on the day would be donated to Downham Village Hall Committee and Help for Heroes and added: “The event will be a chance for long-lost cast members to be reunited. Bring along any memorabilia you may have or simply your memories!”
