A GALAXY of stars are heading for Burnley in the world’s hottest celebrity football tournament.
The Celebrity Soccer Six is back with a big name line up to bring more glitz, glamour and goals to Turf Moor.
Undefeated world champion boxer and Strictly Come Dancing star Joe Calzaghe has been announced for the showbiz showdown this summer along with X Factor boyband The Risk and X Factor and Big Brother badboy Frankie Cocozza.
Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowell, glamour model Bianca Gascoigne and X Factor’s Kitty Brucknell will be among the famous faces battling it out for the Soccer Six crown.
Teenage heartthrob Lucien Laviscount, who starred in Waterloo Road, Coronation Street and Celebrity Big Brother, will be playing in his home town at the star-studded event on Saturday, June 2nd.
Emmerdale actresses Isabel Hodgins, Grace Cassidy and Chelsea Halfpenny will be putting their soccer skills to the test against stars from TOWIE, Eastender, Dancing on Ice, CBBS, Waterloo Road and Celebrity Big Brother.
Kierston Wareing, star of Sky One’s The Take and award-winning film Fish Tank, will take to the field alongside British R&B singer Starboy Nathan, five-piece girl group Parade, who have worked with Shakira and Ellie Goulding, and Liverpool’s up-and-coming hip hop act Chelcee Grimes.
Soccer Six proved a huge hit last year as 7,000 fans watched 160 celebrities including TOWIE, Plan B and The Wanted, battle it out at Turf Moor.
But organisers say 2012 will be even bigger and better and more star names are expected to be announced over the coming weeks.
Mr Anthony Fairclough, director of commercial affairs at Burnley FC, said he was “excited” at the prospect of Soccer Six returning to the club.
He added: “The Soccer Six tournament is a great day out and I would say to anyone who missed last year to come to this year’s event, as it promises to be bigger and better than before.”
A gala night is also being staged at Turf Moor the night before the tournament.
