A new community drumming circle has been set up in Colne.

The “Keep The Beat Group” is open to both beginners and experienced drummers, and runs between 7pm and 9pm on Monday evenings.

Facilitator Simon Woodvine MBE said; “We mainly play drum rhythms from all parts of the African Continent, but we also play rhythms from other various areas of the world. We mainly use d’jembe drums from Africa, bongos, congas and all types of hand drums, so we will have a wide variety of drums for people to use at each meeting.

“Learning to play drums within a group is not only an excellent way of meeting new like-minded people, but it is also a great method to help build confidence, and it also has many health benefits - it is excellent for expressing and releasing emotions.”

“Keep The Beat” meet at Arcadia Cafe, in Windy Bank.
