A touch of Mancunian swagger had crowds going a little bit 'mad for it' at the weekend.

Hundreds of live music fans packed UCLan Burnley for This Is Manchester – a festival which paid homage to a trio of heavyweight Madchester acts.

These Smiths, Oasish and The Clone Roses brought attitude and a canon of belting tunes to a night of rafter rocking entertainment at the Burnley campus venue.

Festival organiser Madge Nawaz, who runs Remedy bar in the town centre, said the night was a big success and would hopefully lead to similar events being held.

“First of all, I would like to thank everybody who turned up. These kind of events don’t work unless people embrace them and the atmosphere on the night was fantastic.

“It wouldn’t have been possible either without all the staff who helped out on the night.

“All three of the bands were incredible. These are three of the best tributes acts around and they showed just why.

“It’s a great venue and events like these can only be good for the town.

“We want to make these kind of nights a regular thing.

“They get people out and they’re good for the whole town – the bars, taxi, takeaways, they all benefit.”
