ORGANIST Nigel Ogden certainly entertained at the latest fund-raising concert at Padiham Unitarian Church.

The presenter of BBC Radio 2’s long running programme “The Organist Entertains”, was accompanied for several pieces by local young soprano Grace O’Malley. Mr Ogden displayed his immense talents not only as the soloist, but also in accompanying Grace, who sang a variety of music.

The enjoyable programme culminated in Elgar’s “Pomp and Circumstance”, with the capacity audience delighted to engage in waving Union flags!

The next concert in this eighth series will be the last this season and will be given by acclaimed Clitheroe-based Westen swing band “The Swing Commanders” on May 11th at 7-30 p.m. Tickets are £8, including refreshments.

The concerts are raising money for the North West Air Ambulance, the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund and the church. For details e-mail barryrbrown@googlemail.com or phone 01282 773336.
