Photos: Thousands at Colne’s Xmas bonanza

Christmas has come to Colne like never before - with Colne Food Festival and the town council joining forces for the first time to host a festive bonanza to remember.

Thousands attended the town centre event, which included everything from food and craft stalls, to a torchlight procession, to an extravagant firework display.

According to Live Like The Boy’s Ashley Sutcliffe, who runs the food festival with Let’s Get Crafty’s Charles Bolton, the day was “phenomenal”, and bar a few technical hiccups, went down well with the crowds.

He said: “I have never seen Colne so busy - there were so many people on the streets.

“I had been running around all day to-ing and fro-ing, so when I go to the firework finale at the end, I looked around, and there must have been between 2,000 and 3,000 people - all happy and having a good time, and everyone was singing along to ‘Let It Go’ from Frozen.

“Everybody has said the food festival and the town council worked really well together, so we will definitely do something again.”
