THE 4th Skipton International Puppet Festival takes place this weekend.
From Friday to Sunday, the festival will celebrate one of the oldest and newest of art forms, puppetry.
Puppetry has been around for hundreds of years with shadow play and puppetry being the cinema of the Stone Age. And it has evolved to use the newest technologies.
The three-day event offers a variety of performances as well as an extensive free street programme. This year there will be no fewer than 23 companies, with performances from Germany, France, Hungary and Finland as well as companies from all over the UK. There will be 72 shows in eight venues plus an exhibition and carving demonstration, workshops, and a Community Puppet Parade. Tickets range between £2.50 and £5 for family shows and £10 for adult shows with many free acts.
