The Mayor of Pendle is inviting older people from across the borough to the annual Christmas knees-up at the Muni in Colne.
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday for “A Bit of A Do”, hosted by the Mayor, Coun.Nadeem Ahmed.
He said: “Since I’ve been Mayor, I’ve really enjoyed getting out and about and meeting local people in lots of different situations.
“I’m looking forward to spending time with people from our older generation in the run-up to Christmas.
“I know previous Mayors have always enjoyed these events and I am sure I will too.”
As well as turkey with all the trimmings, “A Bit Of A Do” offers first-class entertainment.
First on stage will be the Trawden Ladies Choir, who will perform traditional Christmas carols. They’ll be followed by two singers, back by popular demand. Andrea Louise is an excellent vocalist with a powerful voice, while Vinny Mac is a smooth silver-tongued crooner.
New on the bill this year is James Brandon, an award-winning comedy vocalist. Experienced compere Vaughan Jones will ensure the show runs smoothly.
This year’s events take place on December 6th, 7th and 8th. The shows begin at 11-45 a.m. with lunch at noon, and end around 3-30 p.m.
Anyone who comes along will enjoy a pre-lunch drink followed by a traditional roast turkey dinner.
Anyone with special dietary needs shouldn’t worry as there will be a alternative on offer - please ask about this when you ring to book your tickets.
A Christmas raffle will be held at each of the events with all proceeds going to the Mayor’s chosen charities of Pendleside Hospice, Rainbows at the Holden Centre in Barrowford and Starlight.
Shelagh Czapowski, Luncheon Clubs and Community Halls Manager, said: “As usual, we’re providing community transport to take people with mobility problems to and from the event on selected days, subject to availability.
“But spaces are limited so we’re asking people to book their seats as soon as possible.”
To reserve your tickets, contact Shelagh on 661561 between 10 a.m. and noon, and 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
