Burnley Youth Theatre is hosting a professional production that tackles a hard-hitting theme.

“Flesh”, created by Monkeywood Theatre in association with The Royal Exchange, is about the struggles of young parents in the North-West and is coming to Burnley today at the end of its northern tour.

Thanks to funding from Warburtons Bakers, tickets are free if booked in advance on 01282 458655 or visit www.burnleyyouththeatre.org. The evening performance begins at 7-30pm.

Monkeywood spent hundreds of hours with young parents from the region gathering true stories, opinions and insights that were surprising, moving and honest. FLESH is a play based on these stories and follows three young people as they become parents for the first time. It opened at Manchester’s Royal Exchange in November and then went on tour. The issue of teenage parenthood is particularly relevant to the area, with East Lancashire having among the highest rates in the country.
