One of the country’s most famous actresses who lived in Pendle for 15 years at the end of the 20th Century was made a Dame in the New Year’s Honours List announced today (Tuesday).

Penelope Keith, star of hit television comedy series “The Good Life” and “To The Manor Born”, lived at Beckside House, Wycoller, with her husband, former Burnley policeman Rodney Timson, in the 1980s and 1990s.

The 73-year-old, who already holds an OBE, awarded in 1990, and a CBE from 2007, received her latest honour for services to the arts and charity.

Ms Keith and her husband now live in Surrey.
