Unsurprisingly sweet show at Burnley Youth Theatre
That is the inspiration behind the company’s magical show, Handa’s Surprise, which is returning to Burnley Youth Theatre.
“This is actually the second time Handa’s Surprise has been here,” said Michelle Darwin, of BYT.

“However, it was such a good show, and such a popular book, that since it is touring again, and coming to the region as part of the Big Imaginations Festival, we were keen to get it back but this time as a public performance so that families could enjoy it.”
Bringing smiles to faces, the production follows Handa’s footsteps as she journeys from one Kenyan village to another to surprise her best friend, Akeyo, with a gift of seven different delicious fruits.
But hoping to stop her in her tracks and steal the gift is a string of mischievous animals.

And for Michelle, bringing it back to Burnley audiences was a no-brainer.
As she said: “It’s a beautiful and intimate journey across Africa for little ones, exploring friendship and introducing different fruits and animals.”
It will be shown at Burnley Youth Theatre, Queen’s Park Road, on Monday, October 30th, with performances starting at 11am, 2pm and 4pm.
