Pandemic is springboard for Pendle beauty therapy experts to launch their dream business
A beauty salon owner, who was forced to close her salon for several months when the pandemic hit, spent the time in lockdown preparing to launch her own training academy.
And the T and L Beauty Training Academy brings almost 40 years of combined experience to the beauty therapy industry which is the brainchild of Tierney Hanson and Leanne Phillipson.
The duo also have over 20 combined years as NVQ lecturers and assessors for the beauty therapy education sector.
Tierney said: “Myself and Leanne feel that, after all these years of being in this industry and lecturing together at Nelson and Colne College, it’s now time to expand our skills and branch out as a partnership.
"Many things have changed in 2020 and we want to help and be a part of re-training as many people as we can.”
The academy is based at Neo Vintage in Colne, the salon Tierney has run for the past six years.
The courses will provide practical training and theory knowledge needed to achieve a successful career in the beauty industry. And as many people have suffered the loss of their job in the past year the academy offers them a chance to learn a new skill.
Leanne said the business venture had been a 'long time coming' adding: "We've been working towards this point for a number of years.
"I feel extremely proud to be able to share my knowledge and experiences with new people.
"There are many opportunities at the moment within the beauty sector and it’s becoming more lucrative year on year."
