Accident campaigner Mr Stuart Kind has finally got the permanent memorial he wanted to his dead daughter. The pelican crossing he believes will save other lives now stands on the spot where 11-year-old Kristian was killed by a car - at the junction of Lytham Road and Lamaleach Drive on the Freckleton-Warton boundary

Bereaved parents Norah and William Rigby went back to their dead son's school to inspire another generation of pupils. The couple from Wesham, near Preston, handed over a commemorative plaque designed by friends, in memory of RAF sergeant David Rigby who died in a helicopter crash. The plaque will hang in the chapel of St Bede's RC High School, Lytham, where he was a pupil 10 years ago

The enchanted world of the Wizard of Oz was brought to life as the children of Tarleton CE School, near Preston, took a trip down the Yellow Brick Road when they staged the adventures of Dorothy and her three pals - the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion

Children at Grimsargh playgroup got to grips with life's obstacles to raise money for the village hall. Each child was sponsored to complete as many circuits as possible of a special course which featured a play tunnel, slide and climbing frame. All 15 toddlers who took part raised about 100 with their antics
