The 7th Barnoldswick Independent Methodist Rainbows, Brownies and Guides enjoyed a fun evening at Letcliffe Park taking part in their very own Race for Life.

Warm-up games preceded running, skipping or walking the laps of the playing field and the event was well supported by parents. Some even joined in, including one dad who decided to give his tired daughter a piggy back around the field. At the finish, every girl received a silver medal.

Unit Leader Jilly Lawson said: “It was the hottest night of the year where temperatures were around 29 degrees but this did not stop the girls taking part in this fantastic event while raising money for such a good cause.

“A big thank you must go to the team who helped out on the night and for all the sponsors.

Money was still coming in for the event but the Unit is hoping to raise £500 for Cancer Research UK.
