A HOT food takeaway in a Colne conservation area which has had its wooden doors and windows replaced by uPVC ones has been made the subject of enforcement action.

Pendle Council’s Colne and District Committee agreed to take action after planning officers spotted the changes at a traditional building in Albert Road.

The move will mean the uPVC facilities will have to be taken out and replaced by wooden ones. A report to the meeting said: “The uPVC shopfront and windows form an inappropriate alteration to the building and are not in keeping with the character of the building and detrimentally impact upon the character and appearance of the conservation area.”
