Lord, clear my mind of trivial things so I can talk to you.

Let me learn to be still Lord,

So I can hear you coming through.

Our minds are full of everyday:

It stops us thinking what to say,

Your words are full of good advice,

Stopping some of my wayward ways.

At times we only come to you

When our bright clouds

Turn dark grey.

You Lord tell us each day to ask

And Lord sometimes it becomes a task.

Teach me Lord at each breaking day

And before the day is done.

I really need to pray,

To read your word and not just skim

Because I’m tired and so give in

To sleep and rush to finish one more line.

Let me think Lord of all the times

You waited patiently to hear

My prayer to you so you could draw near.

Forgive me Lord for my foolish ways,

For I know you watch over me every day.

So I thank you Lord for this lesson learned,

To spend more time with you to pray.

Then I will feel the black clouds disappear

And know that you are always near.

Thank you Lord for the things you do,

For I would be nothing without you.
