A warm welcome awaits at Chatburn this Christmas

Those looking to get into the spirit of Christmas during the festive season will be hard pressed to find anywhere more into the magic of Christmas with events for all ages.

The popular Chatburn Christmas Concert at Christ Church on Friday December 2nd is the launch of the area Christmas Tree Festival which will be officially opened by Deputy Ribble Valley Mayor, Coun. Richard Bennett.

The concert takes place amongst the forest of decorated and illuminated Christmas trees and is performed by professional musicians who have come together to form Elliot Brass Ensemble plus Barbershop Choir Wrong Direction.

There will be carol singing and it is hoped to have a video link to a special person at the North Pole.

Tickets are £10 including wine, mince pies and a Christmas cracker to take part in the biggest cracker pull in Lancashire.

Advance tickets are advisable due to previous concerts selling out, and these can be obtained from Roy Porter Butcher Chatburn or 01254 384893. All proceeds are donated to the church.

Clive Greenwood, of Ribble Valley Music Festival, said: “There is certainly a buzz in the air in Chatburn with the Christmas Concert culminating this year’s music festival, and setting the scene for many religious and secular activities in the village throughout the festive season. I would take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported this year’s festival. We are currently putting together the 2017 Ribble Valley Music Festival and shall have more news on this soon.”

The display of Christmas trees can be viewed daily from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday December 3rd and after the Sunday Service from noon to 4 pm on December 4th. There will be themed trees created by many local organisations and businesses, craft and gift stalls, refreshments and the Story of the Christmas Tree on display and on the big screen. Entry is only £1 and this and all donations will go to the church.

All of that is preceded with an Advent Messy Church from 2 to 4 pm on November 27th which includes crafts, stories, songs and snacks for all the family in Christ Church, Chatburn.

There will be a special showing of the colourised version of the movie It’s a Wonderful Life at the monthly film night in Christ Church taking place at 7-30 pm on Tuesday December 6th. It is free entry and there will be refreshments, although donations are welcome.

Further events at Christ Church Chatburn include a carol service at 11 am on Sunday December 18th, and on Christmas Eve, there will be a Christingle Service 4-15 pm and a communion service at 11-30 pm. A family service takes place at 10 am on Christmas Day.
