Police have said a baby who was bitten by a bulldog in Nelson is “lucky” her injuries are not worse.

The 14-month-old baby girl was bitten by a Johnson American Bulldog on Wednesday morning and police were called out to an address in Brunswick Street at 11-30am.

She was flown by air ambulance to the Royal Blackburn Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to receive treatment for “serious but not life-threatening” cuts.
