Colne swing singer Russell Shaun is having a celebratory 20th anniversary hometown gig at The Muni next week.
Russell’s big band gigs have become something of a firm fixture in the calendar in recent years and on Friday, October 21st, he will be back by popular demand at a party-like occasion to mark 20 years of performing with the band.
Russell is looking forward to the occasion after a busy summer of gigs up and down the country as well as abroad from Bahrain to Spain.
He said: “This is our 20 year celebration... Where did all that time go?
“Usually in the past, we have done the gig, everybody has had a good time but then they go home when the music has finished.
“This year, we are inviting people to stay behind after the show to celebrate with us and have a bit of a party.
“Things are going really well at the moment. I’ve enjoyed travelling the country. Bahrain was quite a mad, I’ve had a couple of gigs in Marbella and ended up doing one in Japan when I was visiting a friend.”
As well as Russell and the band, there will be special guest appearances from local talents Wayne Farrow and Rebecca Joy, and you can expect to hear classic tracks from Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior, Dean Martin, Matt Monroe, Michael Bublé and many others.
Money will be raised on the night for Pendleside Hospice and sales of his CD will go towards a donation to the family of a good friend who has cancer.
Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are £15 in advance and £18 on the door. Go online at www.themuni.co.uk or call 661234.
