LOVE is still blossoming for a Barrowford couple who are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary this weekend.

Jack and Mary Sanderson who moved to Barrowford last year will be wined and dined when their family take them for a meal at the Calf’s Head, Worston.

The grandparents to six met while working at Barrowford car garage, Jackson and Anson, where Jack, now 74, worked as a mechanic and Mary a pump attendant.

They fell for each other and were married soon after at St George’s Church in Vaughan Street, Nelson, on a snowy Saturday.

Mary (71) said, “We have three lovely children and grandchildren, and together with their partners they have always been there for us.”

Their marital home was in Ripon Street, Nelson, where they spent 49 happy years and where they brought up their three children Andrew, Philip and Joanne.

Nowadays, the couple enjoy nothing more than strolling around the nearby park and going on jaunts around the UK.

Daughter Joanne said: “It’s definitely an achievement. I think their secret is patience and understanding.”
