Bomb disposal team called to Burnley after WWII grenade found
The bomb disposal unit carried out the controlled explosion on Hunters Oak Farm in Ightenhill late yesterday afternoon after magnet fishers discovered the grenade in the Leeds and Liverpool Canal near to Pendle Way.
The site is set to host Drop the Beat music festival later on today. Organisers helped carry sandbags over to the grenade in order to restrict the blast.
