A Nelson and Colne College worker’s hair is winging its way to America to be made into a wig for a 12-year-old girl after a charity haircut in Barrowford.

Anna Hollingworth, a sports activator at the college, had 12in. of her flowing locks cut off at Christian’s Hairdressing in Gisburn Road, Barrowford.

Anna is raising money for Prostate Cancer UK and Macmillan Cancer Support by having the dramatic haircut to support family members and friends who have cancer and is pleased her shorn locks will help a poorly child across the Atlantic.

Afterwards, Anna said: “I feel OK with my hair. I am pleased to have opportunity to raise money for charity. It seems strange having short hair!”

There’s still time to help boost the charity funds Anna is raising by donating at the reception of Nelson and Colne College.
