A new concept store aimed at children aged three to 93 opened in Barnoldswick this weekend.

Tilltot’s Perfectly Mad Emporium in Newtown opened up its doors to the world yesterday targeting the kid inside everybody and is the brainchild of Barlick businesswoman Mags Walker.

The bright and airy store will stock crafts and toys from brands such as Lego, Decopatch, Seedling and many more as well as an in-house range of jewellery and stationery designed and made in Barlick.

Products range from 50p to £50 and pricing has been designed to help kids shop independently, count and manage their money while the store’s theme is based on the Walker family’s four year-old West Highland Terrier Tilly and their 19-year-old Persian cat Sebastian.

Mags said: “Tilltot’s motto comes from my mother and it is ‘look for the good in everyone and the fun in everything’.

“We want to put a bit of fun back in to the high street after a pretty depressing time during the recession and last few years.

“The reason I’ve chosen Barnoldswick is because I love the town and have roots here, but also because it has a vibrant centre full of independent stores.

“Everybody has a child in them and Tilltot’s offers a chance to touch, try and create; the sort of things that you can’t do online. It’s a fun destination for inspiring ideas on a sunny or rainy day.”
