A BARNOLDSWICK takeaway is celebrating after it was awarded a five-star rating for food hygiene.

Usmaniyah on Albert Road was given the award by Pendle Council after an inspection by a food safety officer.

Owner Mohammed Noor, known in the town as Tony, said he was delighted to receive the certificate.

He said: “I am very happy that we have received the highest rating. We take great pride in keeping the restaurant clean and serving top quality food for our customers.”

Pendle Council is part of a national scheme in partnership with the Food Standards Agency to rate food premises.

It looks at criteria including food handling practices, temperature control and cleanliness.
