A Nelson florist is one of a team of seven to win a gold medal at a national flower show.

Janet Boast, owner of Going Dutch, is part of the Interflora florist team who won first prize for their eye-catching floral installation at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Entitled “Open Church”, the team’s impressive exhibit in shades of pastel pink, peach and lilac wowed the judges.

Standing at over 5m tall and exhibited in the Great Pavilion, it was designed to reflect the elegant architecture of a church’s exterior and interior through intricate floral church bells, glorious feature windows and suspended chandeliers.

It is the seventh year running that Interflora has been awarded a prestigious medal at the show.

Kate Mollart, Brand Manager at Interflora, said: “The success Janet and the team have achieved this week demonstrates the passion and creativity of our expert florists.

“Each one of our florists has the unique blend of skills, creativity and attention to detail to create the most amazing floral designs.

“We’re proud that so many award-winning florists choose to be part of the Interflora family.”

Interflora’s design exhibit began on Tuesday and will continue until tomorrow.
