A Nelson woman has been presented with the first year sheet metal award at Training 2000’s annual engineering prize presentation.
Joanne Gregory (21), who works at Paradigm Precision, received her award from former world superbike champion and “King of the Jungle” Carl Fogarty.
Speaking at the ceremony, Joanne said: “I am really enjoying my course and have learned lots of new skills.
“I am so proud to have been given an award in recognition of my achievement.”
As well as presenting awards, Carl took part in a question and answer session, where he talked to learners about his experiences and about the dedication it takes to succeed.
Training 2000’s engineering manager, Paul Duerden, said: “The annual Engineering Awards are always a great way to reward our learners’ efforts and Carl was a delightful guest.
“They all work very hard, show commitment and determination and we believe this should always be recognised.
“The calibre of learners this year was very high as usual and it is clear that the future of engineering is bright.”
