Ninety Pendle families will benefit from the generosity of staff and students at Nelson and Colne College who have collected a mammoth amount of food for charity.
Entry Three and Level One Care students have been collecting food for the annual Open Door hamper appeal this year and the response has both surprised and overwhelmed.
Last year, 96 hampers were made up for the Colne charity but 2014’s efforts have smashed that total by producing an amazing 115 hampers and a cracking Christmastime spread to boot.
Dawn Lange, the Open Door manager, said: “This year we have had more referrals than ever, we never envisaged the amount of need there was in Colne and the surrounding areas.
“With the fantastic help of Nelson and Colne College students and staff, the 90 families and 150 children will have a better Christmas.”
