PENDLE Council services will be suspended on Wednesday as members of the Unison and GMB trade unions hold a one-day strike as part of the public sector pensions dispute.
Chief Executive Mr Stephen Barnes told members of the Executive town halls and council offices would be closed to the public but any staff who wished to work would be able to do so.
The stoppage would cause disruption to services such as refuse collection, he said.
“It is up to individuals whether they choose to cross picket lines. We ask them to use their judgement.
“If they feel victimised or threatened they should report the matter to myself or the police,” he added.
An emergency telephone number will be available through the council’s telephone system for people requiring urgent assistance.
