A popular Earby pub has new landlords who are aiming to make the place roar again.
Gemma and Michael Lonsdale have taken over the reins at the historic White Lion pub on Riley Street.
It’s the couple’s first venture together after getting married 12 months ago and they hope to combine their 20 years of combined knowledge and use it to good effect.
Michael has worked for Timothy Taylor’s Brewery and at many of Colne’s pubs down the years while Gemma started out at the White Bear in Barrowford before spending time abroad at bars in Mallorca, Stockholm and Tenerife.
The double act hope to return the 17th Century pub to its glory days as the hub of the community.
Gemma said: “We just saw this as a really fantastic opportunity. There will be entertainment on a Saturday evening, a quiz night and we aim to get pool and darts teams started.
“We have just got our food service sorted which is mainly going to be home-cooked and locally sourced produce.
“We will also have range of real ales and we hope to get recognised with CAMRA and experience managing and nurturing the beer.”
