Residents are being given a chance to have their say on a Colne supermarket’s new charity partner.

Sainsbury’s, in Windy Bank, are asking shoppers to vote for their favourite local charity by Sunday.

The winner will be announced in July, and will receive a year’s worth of support.

After voting closes, a shortlist of nominations will be drawn up and colleagues will invite three charities that they feel best fit the needs of the community into store to talk about how Sainsbury’s can support them.

Sainsbury’s Colne store manager Mark Herrington said: “We’re looking forward to supporting a local charity which touches many of our customer and colleagues’ hearts.

“The scheme gives us the chance to make a real difference to important causes in the community and we hope our customers get behind this year’s voting stage and nominate their favourite local charity.”

The latest charity to have benefitted from the six-year scheme is Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

Customers can place their votes either in store or by visiting
