Work has now been completed to fix a major water leak which has left many homes in the BB8 area without water.
Water supply to homes along Burnley Road stopped or was reduced to a trickle around 6-30pm last night following a leak in Regent Street. Engineers worked through the night to resolve the problem.
At 1pm, the United Utilities website reported: Our team of engineers has finished repairing the leaking pipe on Regent Street and the water should be starting to flow normally again.
“However it may take up to two hours for the water pressure to return to normal levels. We’re sorry if this has affected you and thank you for your patience.
“Because there’s been some disturbance to the pipes in your area you may notice the water is a little cloudy or discoloured.”
