St Paul's CE Primary School in Nelson celebrated World Book Day last week in style, as students donned an array of fantastic costumes inspired by The Wizard of Oz.

With staff also dressing up for the occasion, the entire school celebrated the day, which saw some fabulous costumes - into which lots of time, love, and effort had been put - making an appearance, including scarecrows, tin men, lions, munchkins, and a stream of Dorothys.

The children also enjoyed an afternoon performance of 'The Wizard Oz' from 'The Story Tellers' on a day inspired by L. Frank Baum's novel, which the children from the school council picked as a theme after a vote.

Mrs Roberts, Coordinator of the school council, said: "It was the most successful world book day to date and would like to thank all the children and staff particularly the welfare staff for all their great efforts and involvement."
