Charlotte was a spa therapist at Stanley House in Mellor for a year before taking a three-month sabbatical to visit Thailand and Bali, where she underwent specialist massaging training.

After returning to Stanley House, which won the best spa in the North West accolade at the Good Spa Guide Awards, Charlotte will include her new skills and techniques in the spa’s peace and relaxation massages programme.

Charlotte gained a qualification in Thai foot reflexology in Thailand, where she previously studied Thai massage.

She then travelled to Bali where she undertook courses in Balinese massage and therapeutic oil blending as well as in Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi massage and bamboo massage.

She spent more than three months in South East Asia, visiting Vietnam and mainland Indonesia as well as Bali and Thailand.

Charlotte said: “I went for a study vacation to broaden my knowledge and gain deeper professional understanding of massage. I love it when a passion and a career come together – and what better place to learn?

“I have a passion for travel and I want to keep growing as a therapist by continually challenging myself. As a result of my latest travels, I can incorporate the new skills and techniques I have learned in the peace and relaxation massages we offer at the Spa at Stanley House.”

General manager, Philip Wharton, commented: “This is very much a win-win situation for Stanley House and Charlotte. Her significantly expanded skillset will add an extra dimension to our spa offer, while her personal growth, resulting from this experience, will directly benefit her self-assurance as a professional person within the business.”
