The annual Colne Gala raised £500 from donations and activities this year in addition to raising much needed awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Gary Seed, the gala chairman, said: “Each year we hold a free-to-enter Procession and Gala for the local residents while at the same time raise monies for local charities.

“All money raised on the Gala day is donated and we are proud to have donated £500 this year to the Alzheimer’s Society.

“The Alzheimer’s Society champions the rights of people living with dementia and the millions of people who care for them. I am very proud that all our fund-raising efforts for the charity will help make a real difference.”

Sue Swire, community fund-raiser in Cumbria and Lancashire at Alzheimer’s Society, said: ‘We are extremely grateful to all everyone who made donations at the gala and for the committee members for selecting the Alzheimer’s Society.

“As a charity, we rely on the generosity of others to help us support people to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow.”
