Colne folk have rallied to the call to try and protect vital bus services under threat from Lancashire County Council.

Resident Nathan McCollum organised a petition in December when he heard that service 95 and 95A were going to be scrapped as part of the county council’s withdrawal of funding for bus services.

Nathan said: “When I heard that the only bus that runs through the North Valley estate was going to be scrapped I had to try and do something. It’s a life line for so many people, young and old. I can’t believe we got over 630 signatures in just a couple of weeks.”

Coun. Joe Cooney, who represents the Vivary Bridge ward which would be severely affected if the bus is lost, said: “Nathan deserves a lot of credit for raising the issue.”

Lancashire County Council will set the 2016/17 budget on Thursday.
