A Colne-based toddlers' group enjoyed a lovely trip to Barley as they did a three-mile sponsored walk along the Pendle Sculpture Trail to raise funds for the playgroup.

Friends and family of the Barty Bear Club members enjoyed a woodland walk after everyone got together for a teddy bear’s picnic, with the event hopefully having raised over £600.

"Three miles might not sound far but if you are two years old with little legs, it’s quite a feat!" said Karen Hawthorne, the Playgroup Leader. "We're grateful to everyone who offered support. We had a lovely afternoon and the children were amazing and full of energy right to the finishing line."

The Barty Bear Club aims to provide a relaxed, happy, safe, stimulating, and well-resourced environment in which pre-school children can play, learn, and develop social skills whilst offering support to parents and carers in their demanding role, providing them with opportunity to meet with others in similar circumstances.

There is a short waiting list for the playgroup, which is run by Mothers’ Union at Colne Parish Church and meets every Tuesday during term time from 9am-11am. Those interested can contact Karen Hawthorne on 01282 869 707 or via email at hawthornekaren@hotmail.com
