The popular event, organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All charity and sponsored by Asda Foundation, will take place on Sunday, June 5th.

And with eight weeks left to go until the race, people are being encouraged to register for the 10k event and complete the challenge with the Burnley Leisure team.

The leisure trust is one of the six partner charities for this year’s event, and is offering charity places for just £20 with no sponsorship targets.

Paul Foster, head of development at Burnley Leisure, said: “We’ve got just a few charity places left and welcome people of all abilities to join our team.

“We work with a wide range of partners to promote active and healthy lifestyles in the Burnley area, including schools and community groups. Our recent Girls Up and Active project in partnership with the Calico Group is a good example of the work we do. The project, which offers local women opportunities to get involved in sports, has been a huge success engaging more than 500 women who did very little exercise before coming to the sessions.

“By joining our team you will enable us to provide more sport activities encouraging not only women, but also children and older residents who need opportunities to exercise, get out of the house, meet new people and stay fit.

“We welcome anyone who wishes to join ‘Team Leisure’ to run the new-look Burnley 10k with us.

“You will be supporting a local charitable trust that makes a huge difference to the communities in Padiham and Burnley. All runners will receive a free running T-shirt or vest to wear for the event plus training support from our instructors including weekly running groups and a free leisure pass.”
